How we vet operators
Safety, independently audited.
Avianese only sources aircraft from operators certified by ARGUS, Wyvern, or IS-BAO. Below is what each certification means in practice, and why we won’t fly without them.
Three audits. No shortcuts.
Private aviation has no global regulator. Independent audits, paid for by operators and conducted by third parties, are the only neutral check on whether an operator is genuinely safe.
ARGUS
Aviation Research Group / US
ARGUS rates operators across three tiers: Gold (paper review, pilot flight-hour minimums), Gold Plus (adds on-site inspection), and Platinum (on-site inspection plus a verified Safety Management System). Platinum is the highest possible rating.
We only source aircraft from operators rated Gold or above.
Wyvern
Wyvern Consulting
Wyvern is a full on-site audit covering operator procedures, pilot training records, maintenance, and risk management. Wingman certification requires a successful PASS audit plus aircraft-and-crew verification on every individual flight. The audit follows the specific aircraft, not just the operator.
Audits renew every two years, with surveillance audits between cycles.
IS-BAO
International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations
IS-BAO is the global standard developed by IBAC, recognised by ICAO and used as the reference for business aviation safety worldwide. It is the only cross-jurisdictional framework for the industry.
Three stages: Stage 1 verifies a Safety Management System is in place. Stage 2 verifies it is working. Stage 3 verifies it is mature and continuously improving.
How we vet every flight.
Operator certifications get an aircraft into the network. They don’t put it on your flight. For every booking, Avianese verifies:
- The specific aircraft is current on maintenance, inspections, and airworthiness directives
- The crew assigned is qualified on the specific airframe, recently flown, and current on training
- The route is appropriate for the aircraft class and crew experience (e.g. Aspen-rated crews for KASE)
- Weather, NOTAMs, and any operational risks for the day are reviewed before confirmation
- The operator’s certifications are still in date, we re-verify on every booking
A note on AOG
AOG is the system
working correctly.
An AOG event means the safety system caught an issue before takeoff. That is why private aviation has its safety record. We never short-cut it.
Vanguard, our optional 5% add-on, ensures safety never costs you your schedule. If your aircraft goes AOG, we source a replacement at no additional cost, up to 200% of charter value.

Aircraft on ground, AOG, is the one risk no broker controls: a technical fault, a crew issue, a grounding, and a trip can collapse hours before departure. Vanguard removes it. For 5% on top of any charter, we guarantee a like-for-like replacement so your plans hold, with no claim to file and no scramble. It is the difference between a crisis and a non-event.
